Tooth Gem
Aftercare
01 — FIRST 2 HOURS
WATER ONLY.
For the first 2 hours after your tooth gem application, drink only water.
Do not eat.
Do not smoke or vape.
Avoid coffee, soda, colored drinks or any other pigmented beverages.
Give the bonding material time to set without unnecessary contact or interference.
02 — FIRST 6 HOURS
LEAVE YOUR GEM ALONE.
For the first 6 hours, do not brush directly over the tooth gem.
Do not touch, move, push or pick at the gem with your fingers.
Avoid playing with or pushing the gem with your tongue.
Let the gem and bonding material remain undisturbed.
03 — CLEANING & ORAL HYGIENE
After the initial 6 hours, return to your normal oral hygiene routine.
Brush your teeth twice a day for approximately 2 minutes using fluoride toothpaste.
A soft-bristled toothbrush is recommended.
Clean carefully around the tooth gem to help prevent plaque and food buildup.
Maintain your normal interdental cleaning routine as well.
Good oral hygiene is important for both your teeth and the area surrounding the gem.
04 — PROTECT YOUR GEM
A tooth gem is bonded to the surface of your tooth, so treat it with care.
Avoid biting directly on very hard foods or objects, especially ice.
Hard impacts can cause the gem to loosen or come off.
Avoid constantly touching or playing with the gem with your tongue or fingers.
05 — IF YOUR GEM COMES OFF
Do not try to glue or reapply the gem yourself.
Do not scrape, pick or attempt to remove any remaining bonding material from your tooth yourself.
Visit a dentist as soon as reasonably possible so they can check the tooth and safely remove any remaining bonding material.
If you would like another tooth gem, contact me to discuss a new application.
06 — LONG-TERM CARE
Continue brushing and maintaining good oral hygiene every day.
Pay particular attention to keeping the area around the gem clean.
The longevity of a tooth gem can vary depending on placement, oral habits, bite, diet and other individual factors.
Avoid using your teeth to bite or open hard objects.
Regular dental checkups remain important whether or not you are wearing a tooth gem.
IMPORTANT
If you experience pain, persistent irritation, swelling, gum problems, changes to the tooth, or anything else that concerns you, contact a dental professional.
